Jill Sorenson’s hot new read, Island Peril, may short but it packs a romantic punch!
What started out as an outing for Ella, Abby and Brooke turns into an adventure of a lifetime for Ella and Pual. Pual is sweet, sexy and noble. He’s really a teacher, but in the summer months takes on a job as a guide at the Channel Islands State Park. When Abby and Brooke turn back, Ella agrees to continue with Paul. Only their sight seeing trip turns into a race for their lives…and a chance at exploring the chemistry that’s flared between them.
While I enjoyed Island Peril a great deal, I would have loved for it to have been longer. I almost felt like Paul and Ella’s feelings were such that they might or might not have that happily ever after because of how rushed everything felt. They had no time to really explore. Though this book in essence sets up Abby’s story (remember her in Aftershock), I still would have liked Ella to have had more. Because she was a great heroine—smart, funny, practical. She held her own. And didn’t appear to come in second too much to our hunky hero. But since I am ‘prepped’ I’m off to read the next in this series!
It started as a girls’ outing to California’s beautiful Channel Islands State Park. When Ella Hammond embarks on a kayaking trip with sexy adventure guide Paul Dawson, sparks fly—but so does gunfire from a boat of drug smugglers.
Now Ella and Paul are on the run, soaked and stranded in a rocky hideout. Ella feels like she’ll never be warm again. Until Paul shares his body heat—igniting a fire between them that’s nearly too hot to handle!

Fast-paced, slightly comical, and definitely full of interesting mythological elements, Angie Fox’s Immortally Yours, will have you wondering what it would be like to be a mortal in a world filled with larger-than-life Gods. And could those hunky, all-powerful heroes really be as great as they seem?
Dr. Petra Robichaud isn’t really ordinary but the gods don’t know that…at least she hopes they don’t. If they did she’d be sorely punished for her ability to communicate with spirits. In the otherworld war she’d been drafted into it was rare that the participants actually expired, but her ability to communicate with spirits made her something of a liability to certain parties. But when a certain demi-god is on her operating table with a knife she’d had in her possession before, she felt a great need to save him. And so the prophecy fulfillment began for her…
Commander Galen of Delphi is fatally wounded but when his spirit escapes his body, Dr. Robichaud forces it back in and saves him. He knows what he saw and felt, but at first she keeps denying it. Only when her secret is out do the two start to believe she’s part of a prophecy that will help bring peace to a nasty battle that’s raged for a very long time. But in the end will the two find a happy ever after?
While I wasn’t really sure I would, I enjoyed Immortally Yours. It took a little while to get into the story, to figure out all the characters and the world. But once you get past the strange yet normal military-type atmosphere, you could start to enjoy the characters and their interaction. I also had a bit of time believing there would be a happy ending for Petra and Galen, but it really worked for me in the end. If you like strange and unusual stories that are filled with humor and action, this is a great book to read.

A thousand dollars is a lot of money—enough to entice broke grad students Melissa Standish and Matt Ingram to participate in a psych experiment to test sexual chemistry. Though they’re hardly each other’s ideal partner, the series of increasingly intimate scenarios sparks an attraction neither predicted. With each scorching kiss and sensual touch, the tension grows. Soon, Melissa and Matt can’t wait for the experiment to end—in bed….
“An evocative, cutting-edge thriller with a wonderfully romantic twist…”
An evocative, cutting-edge thriller with a wonderfully romantic twist, INside starts off Brenda Novak’s 2011 trilogy in a most imaginative way!
Giving us her unique interpretation of what it could be like to live life in prison for years for a crime you didn’t commit only to be forced back inside in order to save the ones you love, she delves into government corruption, gangs, and how one is forced to survive in prison. She also gives us a look at one man’s honor, integrity and selflessness in light of what his family and the legal system have done to him.
If you don’t fall a bit in love with Virgil Skinner from the get-go you aren’t human. He’s the epitome of the perfect hero…with TONS of flaws. He’s been in prison for over a decade for a murder he didn’t commit, so he’s hard-edged and cynical over that life-changing ordeal. Not to mention the things he was forced to do in prison to survive. But through it all he maintains his sense of what’s right and wrong—with a little gray thrown in.
In perfect contrast, Peyton Adams is the perfect heroine. Strong, independent, honest, Peyton is exactly what Virgil needs in order to survive the new ordeal he’s forced into so that he can keep his sister and her kids safe. She holds her own in a man’s world.
Ms. Novak has been a favorite of mine for some time, but this has to be The Book for me out of all her work. It’s the one I will remember for many years to come. It’s the one that stands out not only because of the content, but the depth of the romance that is instant and intense enough for you to know that is it for these two people. They will never love anyone else like they do each other. I also related to her inspiration for this work, Prison Break. I thought the romance in that television show could have been more developed. Though only a few of the elements in INSide are the same, I think Ms. Novak did a fabulous job of bringing together all the elements to make sure this story endures the often tell-tell elements that date a work. You aren’t going to want to miss this one!
